Four hundred residents of the Exchange, in Ocho Rios, St. Ann and surrounding communities are set to benefit from improved water supply.

This as the $16 million Lancewood Pipeline Extension Project was commissioned today.

Last October, the installation of approximately 1 kilometre of new four-inch pipes began in the area, to replace aged infrastructure.

Residents in Lancewood, Bonham Spring, White River and parts of Eltham and Lodge will be served by the new pipelines.

The project is expected to officially integrate more households into the National Water Commission’s (NWC’s) supply system, helping to address the challenges faced by underserved areas.

Councillor for Exchange, Ian Isaacs, stated that the commissioning marks another significant step towards resolving the water woes in the division.

Meantime, Water Minister and Member of Parliament for North East St. Ann, Matthew Samuda, announced that the constituency will see several upcoming water projects.

Among them is a 40 million-dollar project scheduled to start in March.
