Found innocent of something we never protested – Speid responds to Mt Pleasant’s ruling
Sporting Director at Cavalier Rudolph Speid, has responded to the ruling handed down yesterday by the Competitions Committee of the Jamaica Football Federation.
The committee ruled that Haitian players Angelo Exilus and Jeudy Johnson were “duly transferred” to the former Jamaica Premier League champions Mount Pleasant FC.
The committee also revealed that it was in possession of the players’ termination letters and international transfer certificates.
However, Speid says he did acknowledge in his protest document that transfers could take place outside the transfer window, but his substantive issue is with the players being registered for two teams at one time.
Meanwhile the possibllity of a triple clash between Mount Pleasant and Cavalier in the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League final is still on.
This as Cavalier will take on Portmore United in one quarter-final tie with the winner to face Arnett Gardens in the semi-final.
The winner of that semi-final will meet the winner of the Mount Pleasant semi-final game between the Tivoli Gardens Mobay United quarter-final; which would pave the way for a Mount Pleasant vs Cavalier final on May 23 inside the National Stadium.
Mount Pleasant lifted the title in the 2022-2023 season beating Cavalier in the final at Sabina Park and Cavalier turned the tables in the 2023-2024 season beating Mount Pleasant in the final to capture the title.
