Former West Indies captain  Sir Clive Lloyd has been honoured with the order of the Caribbean Community. 

The 79 year old was conferred with the honour…which is the highest award in the Caribbean region…. during the 47th regular meeting of the conference of the Caricom heads of Government in Grenada over the weekend.

Lloyd who knighted in 2019 joins Sir Garfield Sobers, Brian Lara and Sir Viv Richards as the other West Indian cricketers to receive the award.

The face of the West Indies in the 1970’s and 80s, Lloyd led the ‘Windies to three consecutive World Cup finals , winning back to back titles in 1975 and 1979.

The left-hander played in 110 tests, scoring 7515 runs at an average of 46.67 while also taking 10 wickets.

He also led the team in 74 test matches……winning 62 and losing only 12…..with his winning percent of 75 the joint-highest with Australia’s Ricky Ponting for captains who led teams in 60 or more test matches.
