Former receptionist accused of embezzlement; granted $500,000 bail yesterday
A former receptionist at Torpedo Loans, who is charged with embezzlement, was granted a $500,000 bail when she appeared in the St. Catherine Parish Court yesterday.
Kimberly Ricketts is accused of stealing $535,000 from the company.
It’s reported that Ricketts who allegedly collected money on behalf of the company in November last year and again this month, used the funds for personal purposes.
The company reportedly discovered discrepancies during a verification process, leading to her arrest and charge.
In yesterday’s court session, Ms. Ricketts told the judge that she had repaid $200,000 to the company and promised to pay the remaining funds on Monday.
Her attorney, Fabian Campbell assured the court that this promise would be honored.
The prosecution did not oppose bail, which was then granted by the judge.
Ricketts is scheduled to reappear in court on July 22 for further mention.
