Former national coach and basketball Icon Simone Edwards remembered at UTECH auditorium

Former national coach, player, philanthropist and basketball Icon Simone Edwards was this afternoon remembered in a moving thanksgiving service at the UTECH auditorium.

Edwards who died on February 16, hails from the Community of August Town, and was the first Jamaican to play in the W.N.B.A and won a title with the Seattle Storms in 2004.

In the meantime, a national team mate of Edwards, Angelee Latouche in holding back tears, says Edwards was a great motivator.

Simone authored the book unstoppable and coached Jamaica to the 2014 Caribbean Women’s Basketball Championship title, before forming the charity organization Simone 4children.
