Former JCA President urges immediate CWI meeting as debate over Shallow’s dual roles intensifies
Former Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) president Wilford “Billy” Heaven is calling on Cricket West Indies (CWI) to convene an extra-ordinary Annual General Meeting (AGM) without delay, arguing that President Dr. Kishore Shallow should not continue leading the regional governing body while simultaneously serving as a government minister in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Heaven’s call comes in the wake of Dr. Shallow’s revelation that he intends to complete the remainder of his current term as CWI president despite accepting the appointment as Minister of Tourism and Maritime Affairs. Shallow has already indicated he will not seek re-election at the end of his term.
Speaking on Irie FM’s weekly sports talk show What’s the Score on Monday night, Heaven — who served as a CWI director during Shallow’s first term — said the dual roles are untenable and recommended that the St. Vincent administrator step away from one of the two positions.
