Foota Hype calls out Hurricane relief robbery in St. Elizabeth
As Jamaicans at home and abroad continue to send aid to help victims of Hurricane Melissa, selector Foota Hype is calling attention to reports of theft involving donated supplies.
According to reports, armed men in Holland Bamboo, St. Elizabeth, allegedly stole approximately $300,000 worth of hurricane relief items.
Foota Hype described the incident as “sad and disgraceful,” condemning those who take advantage of a national crisis while others work tirelessly to help.
Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica on October 28, leaving widespread destruction, many homeless, and at least 32 people confirmed dead.
