Flood waters in Lucea, Hanover have receded
The National Works Agency (NWA) says flood waters in Lucea, Hanover, have receded.
The town was flooded yesterday (August 29), following heavy rainfall.
Speaking with IRIE FM news this morning, Community Relation Officer for the NWA’s Western Region Janel Ricketts said most of the water had receded from around 8 PM.
She said the flooding was not a result of blocked drains, but due to significant rainfall.
Ms. Ricketts noted, however, that the NWA will be mobilizing a team this week to determine how to address the drainage situation in the town.
They will also look at the conditions of the roads.
Ms Ricketts is cautioning motorists and pedestrians against crossing flooded roadways.
