Fletcher & Charles lead WI-A to victory over Nepal
A 92-run second wicket partnership between opener Johnson Charles and Andre Fletcher proved vital as West Indies A beat Nepal by 28 runs to take an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match T20 series in Kirtipur.
Charles, named Player of The Match in the previous game for his unbeaten 119, followed it up with 58 off 30 balls, coloured by 3 fours and 6 sixes to push West Indies A to a competitive 209 for 3 from their allotted 20 overs.
Fletcher, a half centurion in game 3 with 53, continued his good run of form hitting 9 fours and 4 sixes on his way to a top-score of 84 not out from 54 deliveries, in the process breaking the appearance record of six T20 matches for WI-A that was held by Samuel Badree.
Jamaica’s Fabian Allen – the other not out batsman finished on 33 while Kushal Bhurtel was the pick of the Nepal bowlers with 2 for 23.
At their turn to bat, the home team faced with a 200-plus score for the third time in the series folded for 181 with no11 batsman Lalit Rajbanshi dismissed for a duck off the final delivery of the innings.
Captain Rohit Paudel provided most resistance, slamming 82 from 47 balls while Matthew Forde 3 for 25 and Hayden Walsh 3 for 26 were the most successful of the Windies A bowlers.
They were supported by Fabian Allen and Gudakesh Motie with 2 wickets each.
The 5th and final game in the series takes place on Saturday.
