Flash Flood Watch in effect until tomorrow
A flash flood watch has been issued for low-lying and flood-prone areas of several parishes.
They are St. Thomas, Kingston and St. Andrew, St. Catherine, Clarendon, Manchester, St. Elizabeth and Westmoreland.
The flash flood watch will remain in place until 5:00 p.m. tomorrow.
The island is experiencing heavy rainfall associated with a tropical wave that is interacting with an area of low pressure across the south-west Caribbean.
The system is expected to remain in the region for several days resulting in further unstable weather.
Heavy showers and thunderstorms, will affect sections of most parishes, until Friday morning.
Fishers and other marine interests, especially on the south coast, should exercise caution as sea conditions will deteriorate in the vicinity of showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.
A flash flood watch means flash flooding is possible, and residents should take precautionary measures and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a warning is issued.
