Flash flood watch in effect for eastern and south-central parishes
A flash flood watch is in effect for eastern and south-central parishes, until 5 pm tomorrow.
This as heavy rains continue to affect sections of the island.
Parishes under the watch are St. Mary, Portland, St. Thomas, Kingston, St. Andrew, St. Catherine and Clarendon.
A flash flood watch means that flash flooding is possible, and residents are advised to take precautionary measures.
The met service says a broad trough across the central and western Caribbean is producing a large area of organized showers and thunderstorms across the region, including Jamaica.
Observational data indicate that light to moderate showers and thunderstorms have been affecting eastern parishes since early this morning, and are forecast to spread to south-central parishes by this afternoon.
As a result, projections are for periods of showers and thunderstorms, which may be heavy at times, to affect most parishes, especially eastern and south-central parishes this morning through to Wednesday evening.
Fishers on the cays and banks are being urged to exercise extreme caution as sea conditions will continue to deteriorate.
