Flash Flood Warning remains in effect for several parishes

A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect for 9 parishes until 8:00 A.M. tomorrow.

They are: St. Thomas, Kingston and St. Andrew, St. Catherine, Clarendon, Manchester, St. Elizabeth, Westmoreland and Hanover.

A Flash Flood Warning means flooding has been reported or will occur shortly.

The Flash Flood Warning, which was issued for the remaining parishes, has been discontinued, effective immediately.

In a release, the Met Service said a trough, induced by Tropical Depression Nine, continues to produce a large area of unstable weather across the island.

The forecast is for periods of showers and thunderstorms to continue, particularly in southern parishes, into tomorrow.

Residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas are urged to remain on the alert for rising waters and be prepared to move quickly to higher ground.

Motorists and pedestrians should avoid attempting to cross flooded roadways or other low-lying areas, as strong currents are likely.

Additionally, fishers on the cays and banks are advised to exercise extreme caution, as sea conditions are expected to deteriorate in the vicinity of showers, thunderstorms and strong winds.
