Five people died in three motor vehicle crashes across the island between last night and this morning.
In the latest incident at about 4:00 AM, two people died in a crash on Oxford Road in New Kingston.
One of the deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Shamari Leewood of Thompson Avenue, Kingston 3, while the other – a female – has not yet been identified.
IRIE F-M news understands that the crash involved a motorcycle that was being driven by Leewood.
Meantime, 21-year-old Nickardo scale of Land Settlement in Manchester died after the vehicle he was driving overturned on the Royal Flat main road in the parish last evening.
Police reports are that at about 7:15 PM, Scale was driving a Toyota Mark X motor car along the roadway when he failed to negotiate a corner, hit an embankment and the vehicle overturned.
Scale was removed from the vehicle and taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Additionally, a father and his 6-year-old son were killed in a motor vehicle collision on the Fairy Hill main road in Portland last night.
They have been identified as 53-year-old David Woolery of Zion Hill and Jayden Woolery of Sherwood Forrest, both in Portland.
A young girl, who was also travelling with the father and son, remains hospitalized in stable condition.
Police say at about 10:18 P.M., David was driving a Grey Suzuki Swift along the roadway with the two children as passengers.
The driver of a Toyota Corolla reportedly attempted to overtake David’s vehicle, resulting in a collision.
The police were summoned and David and the two children were taken to hospital, where David and Jayden were pronounced dead.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla has been warned for prosecution as the investigation continues.
One resident gave an account of what transpired in the accident.
