First-timers Jewel Andrew and Jediah Blades named in West Indies squad for T20I series against Australia

First-timers Jewel Andrew and Jediah Blades have been named in the West Indies’ 16-man squad for the upcoming five-match T20 International (T20I) series against Australia, which gets underway this Sunday, July 20, at Sabina Park.

This marks the first senior call-up for 18-year-old Jewel Andrew, a highly rated batting prospect and backup wicketkeeper. Andrew caught the attention of the selectors with his fearless approach and dynamic range, particularly against spin – traits that have earned him praise as one of the region’s brightest young talents.

Also joining the squad is Jediah Blades, a promising left-arm seamer who made his international debut last year against Bangladesh. Blades was one of the standout performers in the inaugural West Indies Breakout League, where he impressed with his consistent powerplay breakthroughs and disciplined bowling.

Shai Hope will continue to lead the squad as captain, backed by a strong mix of youth and experience. Seasoned campaigners such as Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, and Rovman Powell are expected to provide leadership and depth across the five-match series.
