Firefighters are responding to two separate bush fires in Central Village, St. Catherine and Skyline Drive, St. Andrew.

Acting Deputy Commissioner in charge of Fire and Rescue Operations at the Jamaica Fire Brigade, Julian Davis-Buckle said the fire in Central Village remains active, while the other in Skyline Drive is under control.

She said units from Spanish Town, Portmore and Old Harbour were dispatched to battle the Central Village blaze which broke out shortly after 2:00 P.M.

Mrs. Davis-Buckle said strong winds are making containment efforts difficult.

She said the fire in Skyline Drive is under control.

Firefighters and members of the Jamaica Defence Force continue to monitor that situation.
