Firefighters electrocuted while responding to fire in Kingston expected to make full recovery
The fire fighters who were electrocuted after coming into contact with illegally connected electric lines while responding to a fire at a premises in Greenwich Town, Kingston, on Tuesday morning, are expected to make a full recovery.
Commissioner of the Fire Brigade Stewart Beckford said of the 6 affected fire fighters, 3 remain hospitalised.
He noted that their injuries are not considered life threatening even though one of the 3, is in serious condition.
The commissioner explained that while responding to the blaze, one firefighter was electrocuted.
2 others went to his rescue and were also electrocuted.
Another 3 also went to their assistance and sustained electric shock related injuries.
Commissioner Beckford expressed relief, that the situation did not end in fatality.
He also called on citizens to desist from stealing electricity.
