Firearms legislation to be reviewed following use of high powered weapons in Clarendon mass shooting

The use of high powered guns in Sunday’s mass shooting incident in Four Paths Clarendon has prompted the government to review the firearms legislation, in a bid to strengthen the response of authorities.

National Security Minister Dr Horace Chang noted that the use of M-16 rifles to indiscriminately shoot innocent citizens including young children, cannot be tolerated.

Speaking during a visit to the Four Paths community yesterday, Dr Chang stressed that the government will give the security forces all the support and resources necessary to bring the perpetrators to justice.

This includes, strengthening the firearms legislation.

He said the police are gathering evidence against the gangs involved in the murders and strengthening the legislation will bolster their ability to deal with the case.
