Firefighters have now contained a blaze in an apartment at Turtle Beach Towers on Main Street, in Ocho Rios, St. Ann.

Reports are that the fire, which affected a unit on the 9th floor, began sometime after 8 AM.

Units from the Ocho Rios fire station responded to the blaze. Police are also at the scene.

The owner of the unit told IRIE FM News that fortunately, no one was in the apartment at the time of the blaze.

She said she was at her business establishment, at the nearby Sandcastles Resort, when she was alerted about the fire.

Meantime, a neighbour said residents evacuated the building quickly after noticing fire coming from the apartment.
