The Jamaica Fire Brigade has been plunged into  mourning after a firefighter was killed in a crash, in St. Catherine, last evening.

Dead is 20 year old Shahine Nelson of Blue Avenue, in the parish.

Reports are that at about 10 pm, an international motor truck was negotiating a right turn onto the Angels Toll Road, when the rear wheels collided with the front of the Honda Fit motorcar which Nelson was driving.

The truck ran over the vehicle killing Nelson on the spot.

Commissioner of the Fire Brigade Stewart Beckford told Irie FM News that Nelson who was stationed at the Stony Hill Fire Department had worked the 3pm to 10pm shift, yesterday.

The crash occurred while she was on her way home.

Commissioner Beckford said Nelson was a promising young woman.

He said her death comes after another member was killed in the United States recently.
