Financial Analyst Dennis Chung has welcomed the appointment of Fayval Williams as the new Finance Minister, noting that she has the required competency.

Mrs. Williams replaces former minister Dr. Nigel Clarke who left the island today to take up his new job at the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Mr. Chung said Mrs. Williams has the fortitude to carry on the work started by Dr. Clarke.

Meanwhile, Opposition Spokesman on Finance Julian Robinson has pointed out that newly appointed Finance Minister Fayval Williams will have to tackle industrial relations issues, as soon as possible.

This, as several public sector groups, including, doctors, Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) staff and other members of the civil service are reportedly restive.

Mr. Robinson said he is not surprised by the appointment of Mrs. Williams as she is the logical choice, given her background in finance.

The spokesman added that the new minister should also focus on the country’s economic growth.
