Finance Minister Fayval Williams to close 2025/2026 budget debate this afternoon
Finance Minister Fayval Williams will close the 2025/2026 Budget Debate this afternoon.
Several announcements were made by Minister Williams and Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness in the Budget Debate, which began on March 11.
Among them are increases to the national minimum wage and the income tax threshold.
Dr. Holness also announced a 1 billion dollar Solidarity Programme that will provide one-time cash grants of $20,000 to $50,000 to vulnerable Jamaicans, as well as the extension of the validity of motor vehicle fitness certificates.
Opposition Leader Mark Golding and Spokesman on Finance Julian Robinson also made contributions to the debate.
Today’s closing presentation by Mrs. Williams will offer an opportunity for her to present any revision made to the 1.3 trillion dollar budget, based on the debate contributions ahead of the 2025/2026 financial year, which begins April 1.
