Finance Minister, Dr. Nigel Clarke to meet with UTECH academic staff this afternoon to discuss compensation review-related matters
Finance Minister, Dr. Nigel Clarke has reportedly invited representatives from the University of Technology Academic Staff Union (UTASU) to a meeting today to discuss matters relating to the compensation review.
This, after some of UTECH’s academic staff signalled their intention to take industrial action over wage issues tomorrow.
During a special meeting last Thursday, the staff members voted to withdraw their service to register their discontent with how issues relating to the compensation review are being handled by the Government.
They claim that the restructured compensation still has anomalies and that some workers are getting less pay.
However, in a statement last evening, UTASU said it has rescinded its decision to strike, as Dr. Clarke has invited them to a meeting.
UTASU’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Tashieka Burris-Melville told IRIE FM news that today’s meeting is scheduled for 4 PM.
