Female student released from hospital, after being shot in the leg yesterday
The Ocho Rios High School female student who was shot and wounded at the institution yesterday, has been released from hospital.
The girl was admitted in serious but stable condition after she was shot.
Reports are that a male student allegedly brought a gun to school and was showing it to his classmates when it went off and a bullet hit the girl in her thigh.
The boy was arrested and arrangements are being made for him to be brought before the court.
Head of the St. Ann Police Senior Superintendent Dwight Powell said investigators are continuing their probe into how the boy came to be in possession of the weapon.
SSP Powell noted that Ocho Rios High is on the Safe Schools Programme, and a police team returned to the institution today, as part of efforts to reassure staff and students.
