Fayval Williams is Jamaica’s new Minister of Finance and the Public Service.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement during a Post Cabinet press briefing this morning.

He also outlined several other appointments.

Mrs. Williams replaces former Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke who departed the island for his new role at the International Monetary Fund, IMF, this morning.

Dr. Clarke’s appointment as the IMF’s Deputy Managing Director becomes effective tomorrow, October 31.

When asked why Mrs. Williams was selected, Mr. Holness pointed out that she has practical experience, having worked in the sector and the ministry.
