Lawrence Sergeant, the father of 13-year-old Shantina Sergeant, is now in police custody.

Police had been looking for him as he could have information crucial to investigations into the death of Shantina.

Head of the Manchester police, Superintendent Carey Duncan said Sergeant was held by police in Old Harbour, St. Catherine yesterday, after being spotted in the area.

He said Sergeant is being questioned.

Shantina’s mutilated and burnt body was discovered at the back of her home in Baillieston, along the Manchester / Clarendon border on Monday, October 6.
