Farmers urged to secure livestock as tropical depression closes in
With impending severe weather expected to hit the country in a few hours, farmers are being urged to secure their livestock and prepare their farms as best as they can.
Speaking with IRIE FM News, President of the Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS), Lenworth Fulton, noted that some farmers are more at risk than others because they work in low-lying areas.
Mr. Fulton also explained that farmers in St. Elizabeth are particularly vulnerable, because of the crops they grow.
Mr. Fulton urged farmers to pay attention to the weather advisories.
