Farhan-Ayub partnership powers Pakistan to T20I Series win over West Indies

A superb 138-run opening partnership between Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub proved to be the game-changer as Pakistan edged the West Indies by 13 runs in the final T20 International at
at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground
in Lauderhill last night, clinching a 2-1 victory in the three-match series.

The result marked Pakistan’s seventh consecutive bilateral T20I series triumph over the West Indies, further extending their dominance in the head-to-head rivalry.

Opting to bat first, Pakistan posted a challenging total of 189 for 4, thanks to a commanding start by openers Farhan and Ayub. Farhan hammered 74 off 53 balls, laced with 3 fours and 5 towering sixes, while Ayub contributed a solid 66 from 49 deliveries, decorated with 4 boundaries and 2 sixes.

Jason Holder, Roston Chase, and Shamar Joseph each picked up a wicket for the West Indies, but Pakistan’s top-order assault had already done significant damage.

In response, the West Indies fought valiantly but fell short, managing 176 for 6 by the end of their 20 overs. Alick Athanaze top-scored with an aggressive 60 from 40 balls, while Sherfane Rutherford chipped in with 51 from 35 to keep the hosts in the hunt.

Jewel Andrew added a brisk 24, and Roston Chase made 15 before being “retired out”—a rare tactical move that saw him become the first batsman ever to be retired out in a T20I match between two full ICC members.

Pakistan’s bowling unit held firm in the closing stages to secure the win. Mohammad Nawaz, who returned figures of 1 for 33, was named Player of the Series for his consistent performances throughout. He was supported in the attack by Hasan Ali (1 for 38), Haris Rauf (1 for 34), Saim Ayub (1 for 38), and Sufiyan Muqeem, who bowled a tidy spell of 1 for 20..

Final Scores:

  • Pakistan: 189/4 (20 overs)
  • West Indies: 176/6 (20 overs)

Both teams will now shift their focus to the One Day International (ODI) format, with the first of a three-match series set to bowl off in Trinidad on Friday.
