Experienced  Sports  Journalist  Donald  Oliver is  dead.

He  died  this  morning   en-route  to  the  hospital after  complaining  of  chest  pains  and  heartburn. 

Donald  Oliver who was named Press Association of Jamaica’s Sports Journalist of the year in 2015, worked  with  the  CVM  Group  and  the  RJR  Communications  group, and was known  more  recently  for  his  colourful  football  commentary  in  the  Jamaica  Premier  League . 

This was call in the JPL Semi-final two years ago between Arnette Gardens and Mount Pleasant . 

He was  a  senior  member  of  the  sports team  at  the  now  defunct  Sportsmax  where  he served  as  a  senior  reporter  and  broadcaster this was his closing remarks in his final show on Friday August 8, 2025.

The was forty years young at the time of his passing.

Following the closure of Sportsmax, oliver joined the Jamaica Observer Media group as Audiovisual Manager in August of 2025, we the members of the Sports Department in particular and Irie Fm in general would like to express our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the late Donald Oliver.
