ETOC reports 22% progress in implementing JETC report recommendations
There was a 22% progress achieved on the implementation of the recommendations of the Jamaica Education Transformation Commission (JETC) report.
This was revealed by Chairman of the Education Transformation Oversight Committee (ETOC) Dr. Adrian Stokes, who said this is up from the 20% reported late last year.
The report is aimed at improving education outcomes in Jamaica.
ETOC is monitoring the implementation of 365 recommendations contained in the JETC report, which was chaired by Professor Orlando Patterson.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday Dr. Stokes said 7 recommendations have been fully implemented with others scheduled to be finalized this year.
He said one recommendation is lagging.
Dr. Stokes explained that work has begun on 136 initiatives and over the next 24 months the ministry plans to commence another 148 initiatives.
The recommendations are being implemented over an eight-year period spanning 2023 to 2031.
