Estimate of damage to Agriculture Sector arising from Beryl climbs to $6.5B
The estimate of damage to the Agriculture Sector arising from Hurricane Beryl continues to climb.
So far the sector has sustained losses amounting to $6.5 billion.
At the same time, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Dermon Spence says it would cost $9.8 billion to replace all that was lost.
Mr. Spence gives a breakdown of the $6.5 billion.
On the matter of agriculture infrastructure, Mr. Spence explains that farm roads, farm buildings and irrigation systems were among the facilities that sustained damage.
He was speaking at this morning’s meeting of the Public Administration and Appropriations Committee.
