Chairman of the Economic Programme Oversight Committee (EPOC) Keith Duncan, says the government needs to embark on a programme to get more people to use public transportation.

He was reacting to the recent decrease in fares for the Jamaica Urban Transit Company, (JUTC).

Speaking during a quarterly press briefing, Mr Duncan commended the government for the move to reduce the fares, as it will help balance inflationary pressure.

Mr Duncan believes more focus needs to be placed on improving the public transportation system, so that citizens are more inclined to use it.
