The Electoral Office of Jamaica says it is set to accept nominations from eligible candidates for the by-election in St. Ann North Eastern.

Nomination will take place this Wednesday, at 10:00 A.M., at the Office of the Returning Officer, on 1 Wharf Street, St. Ann’s Bay.

The by-election was announced by Prime Minister Andrew Holness last week following Marsha smith’s resignation as Member of Parliament.

Matthew Samuda, who is replacing her as the Jamaica Labour Party’s candidate, is expected to be nominated.

The People’s National Party says it will not contest the by-election.
