The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ ) says its preparations for the September 3 general election, are advanced.
The election date was announced by Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness at a Jamaica Labour Party rally in St. Andrew last evening.
Speaking with IRIE FM News this afternoon, Director of Elections, Glaspole Brown said the preparations are well underway.
Some Jamaicans have expressed concern that if the new school year begins on September 1, classes will have to break for the election 2 days later, as some schools are used as polling stations.
Mr. Brown assured that the EOJ will work with the Education Ministry for the best possible outcome.
Meantime, Mr. Brown is reminding persons to collect their national ID cards.
