EOJ says election results remain unchanged for seven constituencies follow official count
The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) says up to 3:00 P.M. today, the official counting of ballots cast in Wednesday’s general election was completed in seven constituencies.
These are St. James North Western, St. James West Central, St. Elizabeth North Western, Manchester North Western, Manchester North Eastern, St. Andrew North Eastern and St. Andrew Western.
The EOJ said the results remain the same as the preliminary count.
The JLP has highlighted at least four political seats, which it will be focusing on, during the official counting of ballots.
They are Central Kingston, South East St. Mary, Portland Eastern and St. James Southern.
The EOJ said the counting of ballots continues into late this evening and over the weekend with the returning officers, in the presence of the candidates and/or their representatives.
Approximately 57 percent of the ballot boxes have already been counted.
Director of Elections Glasspole Brown said there has been no issue during the process so far.
The EOJ is appealing to the public for patience as the process, which is guided by the representation of the people act, continues.
It said further updates will be provided tomorrow.
