EOJ ready for Local Government Election
The Electoral Office of Jamaica, (EOJ) says it is all set for the local government election tomorrow.
Voting will take place in 6,726 polling Stations from 7am to 5pm.
The EOJ says after the polls close at 5pm, the preliminary counting of ballots will take place.
Four Hundred and Ninety Nine (499) candidates are seeking to be elected as representatives for 228 divisions and the directly elected Mayor of Portmore.
Two Hundred and Twenty Nine (229) candidates each are representing the Jamaica Labour Party, and the People’s National Party, 4 are representing the United Independents’ Congress, while 37 are Independent candidates.
