Entertainment stakeholders to benefit from KSAMC workshops aimed at reproducing Freedom Street success
Promoters and other stakeholders, in the entertainment fraternity are set to benefit from a series of workshops aimed at reproducing the success obtained from Vybz Kartel’s Freedom Street concert.
Mayor of Kingston, Andrew Swaby, during the first monthly meeting with councillors of the KSAMC held yesterday, disclosed that following Freedom Street, the corporation conducted a debriefing session to review the outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
Noting the economic value Freedom Street produced for Kingston and by extension Jamaica, the mayor said results from these sessions will be applied to improve the organization and management of future events, ensuring even greater efficiency and success.
Mayor Swaby said these will include sessions with promoters to set clear standards for events held in Kingston and St Andrew with separate workshops for production crews, and dedicated workshops for venue operators.
Vybz Kartel’s Freedom Street concert, produced by DownSound Entertainment caused a surge in tourist arrivals in the week leading up to the event, with reports of approximately 32,000 visitors arriving at Norman Manley International Airport.
