England complete series sweep with convincing win over West Indies Women in rain-delayed ODI finale

The West Indies women’s cricket team came up short in their bid to end their England tour on a high, falling to a comprehensive 9-wicket defeat in the rain-affected final match of the three-match One Day International (ODI) series at the County Ground in Taunton.

Sent in to bat, the Windies struggled to build significant partnerships and managed a modest total of 106 for 8. Qiana Joseph was the top scorer with a gritty 34 runs off 44 balls, while Aaliyah Alleyne’s quickfire 27 from just 18 deliveries provided a late surge. Shemaine Campbelle was the only other batter to reach double figures, contributing 18 runs. England’s Sarah Glenn was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3 wickets for 21 runs, supported well by medium-pacers Emily Arlott (2 for 15) and Kate Cross (1 for 15).

The West Indies were quickly in trouble early on, losing three wickets within the first 3.3 overs, and rain then intervened, causing a five-hour delay with the visitors stranded at 43 for 3 after 12.3 overs.

When play resumed, England were set a revised target of 107 runs from 21 overs under the Duckworth-Lewis method. The home side chased down the total with ease, finishing at 109 for 1 in just 10.5 overs.

England captain Natalie Sciver-Brunt was the standout performer with the bat, smashing an unbeaten 57 off 33 balls, including nine fours, to steer her team home comfortably. Opener Sophia Dunkley also made a useful 26, while Alice Capsey remained not out on 20, providing solid support.

The win secured a dominant 3-0 series sweep for England, following their clean sweep in the T20 leg earlier in the tour.
