Employees of Excellence Oyster Bay Hotel to get a 10% salary increase and improved working conditions
Employees of Excellence Oyster Bay Hotel in Falmouth, Trelawny, can expect a 10% salary increase and improvements in working conditions effective immediately.
This comes two days after the workers withdrew their services to register their frustration over the matter.
The demonstration prompted a meeting on Monday between workers and management, who reached a ten-point agreement.
In addition to the 10% salary increase, the company has also approved a 10% increase on gratuity or tips.
All employees will be given the choice between a five-day or six-day work week.
A permanent contract will be granted to all employees who have been with the company for three years.
Granting of these contracts will start next week.
The company also says that hotel works next year will allow the entire locker and changing room area to be on-site, thus avoiding the need for transportation between Hope Gate and the hotel.
Uniforms will also be provided to workers during the first two weeks of December this year.
The company also notes that workers with perfect attendance will be paid a $3,140 bonus.
It will also facilitate salary deductions from employees’ loans granted by financial institutions or businesses previously approved by Excellence.
The company adds that it is committed to paying all overtime hours worked.
Finally, the company says the HR Department will create a direct communication channel with all employees so that they can freely express any disagreements or issues they may have in their daily work.
