Emergency teams respond to bomb threat in Ocho Rios, St. Ann
The operations of several businesses in Ocho Rios, St. Ann were disrupted for several hours today (June 4), as emergency personnel responded to an alleged bomb threat at the Rubis gas station.
The police indicated that the call about the alleged bomb was received at approximately 9:00 AM.
Personnel from the Jamaica Fire Brigade, the Jamaica Defence Force and the police bomb squad responded to the threat.
The gas station and businesses in close proximity to it, were evacuated, while several nearby streets were cordoned off, as the responding teams tried to locate the presence of any foreign matter, or bomb, as was reported.
Head of the St. Ann police Senior Superintendent Dwight Powell notes that no bomb has been found.
Law enforcement personnel are maintaining a presence in the space as investigators seek the instigator of the threat.
