Education Ministry to provide rapid resumption grants to schools impacted by Hurricane Melissa
The Education Ministry will be providing rapid resumption grants to schools impacted by Hurricane Melissa.
Education Minister, Dr. Dana Morris Dixon made the announcement at a press briefing today, describing the initiative as a targeted intervention to accelerate cleanup efforts and minor repairs at affected schools.
Preliminary assessments have identified 616 schools across affected regions requiring urgent support.
She said beginning tomorrow, the ministry will disburse grants ranging from J$300,000 to J$1 million, depending on the level of damage sustained.
Additional funding has also been allocated for minor repairs to impacted schools in western parishes, while those requiring major reconstruction will receive further assistance following technical assessments.
