The Education Ministry says the transformation of the country’s education systems as recommended in the Patterson report is underway.

This follows a call from President of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association Dr. Mark Smith for urgent implementation of the recommendations to transform the education sector.

Last October, the Education Transformation Oversight Committee (E-TOC) reported that it had commenced work on 136 of the 365 recommendations in the report.

In her back-to-school message yesterday, Portfolio Minister, Dr. Dana Morris Dixon admitted that there is plenty of work to be done regarding literacy and numeracy, infrastructure, and ICT improvements.

She said the Ministry is committed to improving the nation’s schools.
