Education Ministry says schools in Spanish Town may reopen following unrest
The Ministry of Education says schools in Spanish Town St Catherine may reopen for face-to-face classes today.
The decision follows extensive consultations with the security forces.
A ministry statement says the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has signaled, that cops will maintain a robust security presence in and around affected communities.
In light of this development, all schools in the area are urged to carefully review their security situations and make decisions that prioritize the safety and well-being of students and
staff. Principals are encouraged, to maintain close communication with local law enforcement personnel and parents, to assess and address any lingering concerns.
The Ministry says it will continue to collaborate with the security forces to monitor the situation closely and respond swiftly to any development.
It adds that the safety and security of students and school personnel remain the highest priority.
