Education Ministry anticipating improved CSEC Mathematics passes next year
Education Minister Fayval Williams says the ministry anticipates an improvement in Mathematics passes at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) level by next year.
Only 38% of the students who sat the exams this year, passed.
There has been widespread concern about the passes, following the release of the exam results last month.
Speaking at a meeting of the Rotary Club of Kingston yesterday, Mrs. Williams said the sector is still recovering from COVID-19.
She noted that 54% of students passed Mathematics prior to the COVID pandemic.
She noted that an examination of the various subject areas, including stem subjects, shows good passes and that gives hope for the system.
