As the Education Ministry launches this year’s Mathematics Week, Portfolio Minister, Fayval Williams is stressing the need to support Jamaicans, especially children to overcome any intimidation relating to the subject.

National Mathematics Week is being celebrated under the theme “Adding Up the Excitement: Math Rocks”, from April 14 to 19.

Speaking at a church service and launch this morning, Mrs. Williams explained that with the increased use of computers, there must be a rethinking of how Mathematics is used.

Noting that the world is demanding more from students, Mrs. Williams also said that her Ministry is working to improve the Mathematics achievement of children in the country.

She cited results from the recent sitting of the Primary Exit Profile (PEP) examinations.
