Education Minister charges Jamaicans to stand against growing attitude of irreverence towards educational institutions
Education Minister Fayval Williams says Jamaicans must not allow the attitude of irreverence towards the nation’s educational institutions to continue.
Her comment comes in the wake of several violent attacks occurring at schools.
In the latest incident on Wednesday, the bursar at the Hopewell High School in Hanover, was gunned down at the institution’s gates.
Speaking with Irie-FM News, Mrs. Williams laments that vicious attacks within or near schools, reflect society’s lack of respect for educational institutions.
She notes that schools should be a safe space.
Mrs. Williams is urging Jamaicans to help fight against this growing trend of irreverence for schools, to ensure the safety of the staff and students.
