Education Minister assures no child’s academic future at risk as new school term begins

Education Minister Dr. Dana Morris-Dixion has stated that no child will have their academic future put at risk, because of the challenges facing the education sector due to Hurricane Melissa.

She made the declaration in her back to school message, ahead of today’s start of the new school term.

The minister said specific arrangements have been made for some schools, as repairs continue following the damage caused by Hurricane Melissa in October.

She emphasized that these challenges will not hold back the continuation of learning.

Dr. Morris-Dixon added that the recovery process should ensure schools become stronger and more resilient, so that such impacts are minimized in the future.

In the meantime, she thanked the island’s schools for coming together as the recovery process continues.
