East Rural St Andrew MP wants constituency declared disaster zone to allow for quick response, following recent severe weather
Member of Parliament for East Rural St Andrew, Juliet Holness says her constituents are hoping the area will be declared a disaster zone to allow for quick response, following recent severe weather conditions.
Heavy rains lashed the island last week, causing flooding and landslides across several parishes.
St Andrew and St Thomas suffered the brunt of the damage.
Mrs. Holness who toured her constituency to assess the damage, explained that East Rural St Andrew experienced over 30 landslides.
She said the damage is the worst ever sustained by the constituency, following a natural disaster.
