Dr. Tufton reminds Jamaicans that it is illegal to attack vector control workers
Health and Wellness Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton is reminding Jamaicans that it is illegal to attack vector control workers.
Some 950 vector control workers have been deployed across the island following the passage of Hurricane Melissa and amid an increase in mosquito breeding sites.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Dr. Tufton noted that rain and power outages have been hampering fogging exercises in many areas.
Dr. Tufton said he also received reports that vector workers are being attacked by residents.
The minister urged persons not to harm the workers, as they are operating in the best interest of all citizens.
