Dr. R. Brian Langrin appointed new Governor of Bank of Jamaica – Finance Minister Fayval Williams

Dr. R. Brian Langrin is the new Governor of the Bank of Jamaica.
Finance Minister, Fayval Williams, announced the appointment this afternoon.
Dr. Langrin will succeed Richard Byles, who served in the position since 2019, and whose term concludes on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
The appointment was made by the Governor-General in Council.
This, following a selection process led by a Search Committee established in April, which assessed a strong field of local and international candidates.
Dr. Langrin brings more than two decades of leadership across central banking, financial stability and multilateral development institutions, with a reputation for strengthening institutions, modernising financial systems and advancing data-driven policy.
