DPP to proceed further with plans to unify office with Clerk of Courts before her term ends
Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Paula Llewellyn has signalled her intention to proceed further with the process of unifying her office with the Clerk of Courts before she demits her post in September.
DPP Llewellyn made the disclosure during an interview with IRIE FM News about her list of priorities before leaving the position.
She is Jamaica’s first female DPP and has been serving for 17 years – the longest anyone has been in the office.
She explains that unifying the two offices is a complex process with several consultations already conducted.
The unifying process would give the Office of the DPP administrative responsibility for the Clerk of Courts.
DPP Llewellyn added that during the Easter term, she will spend a week in each circuit court as she continues her transitional management process.
